Richards aim when creating composing and playing is to produce gentle solo piano music that is relaxing in mood and yet uplifting at the same time – music that “calms the mind and lifts the spirit”.
Having played extensively within his home state of Queensland, Richard has also spent much time overseas writing and recording – Japan, USA and Hawaii have all benefited from his calming piano style.
Richard is often inspired by nature. Many of his albums have been inspired by the magestic scenery often found just outside his window.
“Much of my music has been composed in some of some of the places that most inspire me close to home on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia – the ancient forests of the Bunya Mountains, a mud brick cottage on a hill in the Noosa Hinterland, watching the sunrise over the Glasshouse Mountains and in my home studio overlooking the ocean.“
“I have also been fortunate to have several opportunities to compose and record in wonderous places around the world – surrounded by bamboo forests, mist covered mountains, sacred shrines and ancient temples in Japan, the red deserts of Phoenix (Arizona, UAS) as well as the breathtaking scenery of the island of Kauai in Hawaii.”
